How to Remove Acrylic Nails at Home
Materials You'll Need
- 100% pure acetone
- Nail clippers
- Cotton balls or pads
- Aluminum foil
- Glass or ceramic bowl
Steps
1. Trim the Acrylic Nails
Use nail clippers to trim down the acrylic nails as short as possible. This will help the acetone penetrate the acrylic more easily.
2. Apply Acetone to Cotton Balls
Soak cotton balls or pads in 100% pure acetone. Be sure to use plenty of acetone, as this will help dissolve the acrylic more quickly.
3.Wrap Nails in Foil
Wrap each nail in a cotton ball soaked in acetone. Then, wrap each nail in aluminum foil to keep the acetone from evaporating.
4. Soak Nails
Soak the nails in the acetone for 15-20 minutes. The acetone will begin to dissolve the acrylic, and you will start to see it peeling away from the nail.
5. Remove Acrylic
Once the acrylic has softened, use a cuticle pusher or orange stick to gently push it away from the nail. Be careful not to damage your natural nails.
6. Buff and Shine
Once the acrylic has been removed, buff and shine your natural nails to restore their shine.
Tips
* Use 100% pure acetone for best results. * Be sure to soak the nails in acetone for the full 15-20 minutes. * If the acrylic is still not coming off after 20 minutes, soak the nails for another 5-10 minutes. * Be careful not to damage your natural nails when removing the acrylic. * Avoid using acetone on your skin, as it can be drying.
